Facilities & Campus

Laboratories for science and computing, a hall the whole school fits into, and grounds for P.T. — on a campus the State has certified for how it is kept.

The school hall

Rows of Secondary students in house-colour sports shirts seated cross-legged on mats in the school hall, eyes closed, during a guided meditation session.

The same floor that holds a prize-giving in the evening holds a guided meditation in the morning. Rows of students in house-colour sports shirts, cross-legged on mats, eyes closed — mindfulness and focus practised together, at the scale a school hall allows.

It is the room that makes the difference between a school that talks about wellbeing and one that timetables it.

Around the campus

  • Science laboratories

Well equipped, and used: Science Practicals are timetabled work from Standard V, not a demonstration at the front of a classroom.

  • Computer laboratories

ICT is taught as a subject, and the Computer Section has a Head of Department and three teachers of its own.

  • A hall for the whole school

Assemblies, mass drill, meditation, cultural performances, competitions and prize-giving — all of it happens in one room the school fits into.

  • Room for P.T. and sport

Physical Training is on the timetable for every standard, alongside the sports and games that run through the year.

  • CCTV throughout

The campus is under surveillance across classrooms, corridors, entrances and common areas.

The school garden

Sixteen Secondary School students in two rows on a school veranda, each holding a potted plant or sapling they have grown.

Sixteen students, two rows, each holding a plant they grew themselves. The veranda is where the saplings live, and looking after them is the lesson — a thing that has to be returned to every week rather than answered once.

Cleanliness and upkeep

S.I.W.S. High School was certified amongst the 100 Best Schools in Maharashtra under #SwachhtaMonitor 2023, awarded by the School Education and Sports Department, Government of Maharashtra. The certificate itself is on the home page.

It is an award for how a campus is kept rather than for what is taught in it, which is why it belongs on this page: the classrooms, corridors and grounds described above are the thing that was inspected.
