What the school sets out to do
Standards V to X follow the Maharashtra State Board curriculum, taught in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 and in English medium. The approach is competency-based: lessons are built to develop conceptual understanding rather than recall, and to give every student regular practice in critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving.
Continuous assessment, project work and hands-on activity connect what happens in the classroom to life outside it — so a student leaves Standard X able to think, to explain their thinking, and to apply it.
92+ years in Wadala
The South Indians’ Welfare Society has taught in this city since 1934, and the High School has run on the Wadala campus for the whole of that time — 92+ years of trust and excellence.
The section sits inside the SIWS Group of Institutions. A child can arrive in Kindergarten and stay through the Primary Section, these six years, and the Junior College without changing school in between — after the S.S.C. examination students move into the Science and Commerce streams according to their interests, and from there to degree colleges, professional courses and the careers that follow.
What the section expects
- English, at all times
- A school rule rather than a preference, and one of the reasons the section is confident about how its students speak by Standard X.
- Attendance of 75%
- A minimum of 75% of the working days in the year. Irregular attendance and late coming are treated seriously.
- The school calendar, daily
- Every student must have a copy and bring it in each day. It is how the school and the family write to each other.
- Uniform, clean and ironed
- Set out in full on the school rules page, with hair and nails kept short, hair uncoloured, and no mehendi or nail polish.

S.I.W.S. High School was certified amongst the 100 Best Schools in Maharashtra under #SwachhtaMonitor 2023, awarded by the School Education and Sports Department, Government of Maharashtra — an award for how the campus is kept.
