About
The Kindergarten section of the South Indians’ Welfare Society — two years, Jr. KG and Sr. KG, on the Wadala campus.
Overview

The Kindergarten section is the youngest part of the South Indians’ Welfare Society, founded in 1934 and teaching in Wadala ever since. It takes children through two years — Jr. KG from the age of four and Sr. KG from the age of five — on the same campus as the Society’s Primary School, High School and Junior College.
The two years are built around play rather than around a desk. Children work in small groups at child-height tables, and the day is short by design: two hours for Jr. KG and three for Sr. KG, long enough to settle into a routine and short enough that a four-year-old is still enjoying it at the end. English, Mathematics, EVS, General Knowledge and Arts run alongside dance, movement, sport and something made most days.
What the section is preparing children for is the twelve years that follow it. The curriculum is the State Board’s, and a child who finishes Sr. KG here moves up into Grade 1 in the Primary School without changing campus, uniform or the people who know them.
