What the college is for
SIWS Junior College teaches Standards XI and XII in two streams, Commerce and Science, on the Maharashtra State Board syllabus. It is part of the South Indians’ Welfare Society group on the Wadala campus, alongside the Society’s Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary sections.
Most students arrive from the Society’s own Secondary School — which is the need the college was founded to meet.
How the college began
The Commerce stream
Begun with a view to providing higher education, to cater to the needs of the Society’s own students at the school — so that a child who finished Standard X at SIWS need not leave the campus to continue.
The Science stream, 1988
Added in 1988, opening Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics to the same students — and with them the laboratories the college still teaches its practicals in.
